Egg Yumminess

Yesterday I decided to get a little "creative" with breakfast (well, I used a Pioneer Woman recipe), but still, it was more than a bowl of oatmeal or a smoothie!  Huevos Hyacinth is what I attempted and once I got the cooking time figured out, it turned out pretty good!  It says to use ramekins, which I don't own, so I used my soup crocks!  Why not!

First you spray your ramekin and put a piece of ham in it.
You can really use any type of breakfast meat or deli meat.

Next, add a slice of tomato.

Gently crack an egg on top of the tomato and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle with your favorite cheese.
I used cheddar, but you can use feta, monterey jack, goat cheese, or whatever!

Broil on low for about 10-15 minutes...keep an eye on it!

I do the jiggle test!  Give it a little shake to tell if the egg is done.
Once it's finished, ENJOY! :)

We had some fresh fruit alongside of it!  What a great way to start the morning!  :)

Down by the Riverside

It was such a beautiful weekend to be outside and we didn't want to waste it, so we decided to take Lucy and her best bud Stella to play in the river.  We found a good little spot back some old country roads.  I couldn't take my camera with me because we had to walk through the river to get to the good spot, and I didn't want to risk dropping it...that could have been bad! :P  However, I was able to take pictures on our way there and it was hilarious!  I'm so glad I could capture the moment...we had the roof and doors off of our Jeep, and whether you are a miniature schnauzer with a little beard, or a weimaraner with some big jowls, the wind does not cooperate!  We laughed the whole way!

Stella:  "Grrr...get this hair out of my eyes!"

Stella:  "This is going to make for a bad hair day!"
Lucy:  "You....look at my lips....they won't stop flapping!"

A day on the golf course

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. Arnold Palmer

It was so beautiful outside and we couldn't stand to stay inside another minute, so we decided to hit the golf course.  This was only my 2nd time golfing ever and it was such a FUN adventure!  Kudos to my amazing husband whose patience was unbelievable!  We played 9 holes and had a blast!
 A beatiful day for golfing!

Lining up the shot

Look at that form :P
Trying to remember to watch the ball!

My best shot of the day....this was out of the sandpit 50 yards away...ha!

Dad 1, Khara 0

Oh dad....you tricked me again!  Ya see, my dad and I are forever running buddies...we have a love hate relationship when it comes to us running together.  It's a special bonding time for us...but sometimes we don't always agree on a workout or a pace.  Today was one of those days.  Even though my dad is over 1,000 miles away, he was still able to trick me.

It started when I decided that I was going to run the half marathon in Pensacola in November.  So I asked my dad for a training plan, and of course he was happy to write me one.  Well, he knows that my least favorite workout is 800's.  No part of me likes to do them whatsoever and I have always and will always whine when I see it on the training plan.  So, being the clever guy he is, he informs me that I have "pick-ups" today.  I'm thinking...ok great!  I love those!  30 seconds on....1 minute off.....I can do this!  Hahaha....not so much.  Dad then informs me that I have 3x3:30 pickups.  I grumble a bit, but say ok.  Well, as I'm doing my workout and finish my first "pick-up" I realize how I conveniently finished at 800 meters....and I think to myself...DAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!

1 for dad, 0 for Khara

And it looks like every Tuesday, me and the 800's will be getting together.
Oh Dad!

Goodbye TS Lee.....

Hello Florida Sunshine!!  :)
So thankful to have some sunshine back in my life!  And not only do we have sunshine...but the humidity and high temperatures are disappearing too!  Woohoo!!!  Fall is coming!!!  :)

Today's project was the favor boxes for the party.  I started with this pink box....

Made a few simple changes, and ended up with this!

While I was busy in the house, my husband and our neighbor were having a productive day as well!  They built this awesome work bench area.  Now we can have an organized garage!  :)
I'm excited to get outside tomorrow and really enjoy the bright sunny day!  Hope everyone has a fantastic night!
Oh, and a special shoutout to all of my VB friends who are starting the school year tomorrow!  Hope your first day is a GREAT one!

A Hodge Podge Kind of Day

Lucy had us up nice and early this morning, and when I took her out I realized there was a break in the rain from the tropical storm...so I ran inside, put on some running clothes, and got my 6 mile long run in.  :)  I was back home for about 10 minutes...and the heavens opened up!  God was watching out for me today!

I put a pork roast in the crock pot when I got back (recipe courtesy of The Pioneer Woman).  When it was cooked all the way, I pulled it apart, put it in my dutch oven and baked it to brown it up.  I made some fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, and had some salsa verde in the fridge thanks to our awesome neighbors! It was delish!  :)

After dinner, I ventured into the crafts....I kept it simple tonight.  For the party, we are going to have the girls write down advice for the bride.  I thought it would be cute to make hearts for them to write on.

I started by cutting a bunch of 6x6 squares of solid and patterned paper.

I used the wonderful Cricut to cut out the hearts....

did a little gluing, and had some hearts!

Looks like another rainy day tomorrow....which means probably lots more cooking and crafting!  :)

Success!

Well....after squeezing in a 4 mile run in between rain storms....I made an attempt at being crafty and was pretty happy with the outcome! Today's project was a sign for the bachelorette party...and thanks to my AMAZING friend Margaret and her AWESOME ideas....it was a success!

I started out by using my handy paper cutter and cut all of the pieces into the correct size of squares and rectangles.

Then I used the Cricut to cut out the letters and corsets (again...thanks to the absolutely wonderful Margaret!)

I did a little gluing...

And Tada!!!  The finished product!

Here's a closeup!  (The computer wouldn't rotate it and I gave up fighting with it!)

I'm excited to take on another project tomorrow.....hopefully the tropical storm will let up a little so that I can get in my long run outside before the crafting commences!

The Beginning of my Adventure....

There's a tropical storm headed our way and it looks like we will be stuck inside for Labor Day weekend....so I figured, what better time then now to start a blog!  My goal of this blog is to share my creations from the kitchen, my attempts at being crafty, and my training adventures for different races throughout the year!

My beautiful sister-in-law is getting married in a few weeks and I have the privilege of helping to plan a bachelorette party with my other awesome sister-in-law.  (I have really been blessed to have these girls in my life and couldn't have asked for a better family to marry into)!  I am attempting to get crafty for it....so stay tuned for updates on my creations!

Tomorrow will bring step one of the creations!
